The process of discovering and bringing a new drug to clinical application is a multi stage process. Over the last couple of years molecular and functional imaging has emerged as a powerful tool for studying spatial and temporal distribution of new drugs and their target affinity non-invasively. This workshop will update on recent technological developments in preclinical PET, SPECT, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and optical imaging, animal anesthesia, preparation for imaging, contrast agents and animal ethics and so forth. Lectures by stalwarts in the field of imaging, drug discovery and animal models will be followed by hands-on training in handling lab animals, image acquisition, analysis and interpretation. Other important topics including Radiation safety, regulation and instrumentation will also be covered.
